So what is Pure Binchotan Active Charcoal?

Pure Binchotan active charcoal is known as the highest quality activated purifying charcoal. Binchotan charcoal is created by burning oak branches at extremely high temperature and then rapidly cooling them down.

The sticks purify water and absorb toxins. The process of activation carbonises the structure of the wood, leaving countless microscopic cavities that easily trap unwanted toxins. Its porous nature draws chemicals out of tap water, naturally softening it and improving its taste.

How to use & care

A quick boil wakes the charcoal up. It is what makes the sticks work, so do not skip it.

Simmer the SoL charcoal sticks in a pot of water to activate them

1. Activate

Simmer your sticks for about 10 minutes, then lift them out to cool and dry. Boiling opens the charcoal pores so it is ready to filter.

Drop a charcoal stick into your SoL bottle of water

2. Drop it in

Pop a stick into your bottle, jug or carafe of tap water and leave it a few hours. Overnight is ideal.

3. Filter & enjoy

Enjoy cleaner, softer, better-tasting water. Each stick keeps working for months.

Refresh every 2 months. With regular use, simmer the sticks again for about 10 minutes every 2 months to reopen the pores and reset their filtering power. At the end of their life, break them up and return them to the garden for completely zero waste.
